Bambi MathayParticipantHi Allison,
My question is in the identification of the elemental energy of the points.
I am taking heart as an example since it is the last one I reviewed. I believe this is correct that the Ht9 Jing well is a wood point, then Ht8-fire, Ht 7-earth, source pt, Ht4-metal pt, Ht3-water pt, He sea. What about Ht 6 and 5? So when we id the 5 points that correspond to elements, it is possible that some points are skipped in the count? I was trying to have some logic around the id of these points vs just memorizing.October 31, 2025 at 4:38 pm #41531
Joseph AudetteKeymasterHi,
It is the case that not all of the points along the meridian as you move from the tips (fingers/toes) towards the first major joint (elbow/knee) have a special designation as 5 element point or source point and so on.
There is a pattern that we will be discussing at length but it is different for the Yin meridian (heart) and the Yang meridians (Small intestine and so on). If we are just focusing on the 5 element points, then the yin meridians always start with the Wood point at the tips (fingers/toes) and then as we ascent up the arm or leg, the second point in from the tip is always the fire point and the third point as you move proximally is earth. The next point as you move proximal along the limb will be metal, but this is where chaos reigns and you just have to memorize which one it is. Then order is found again as the next point based on the 5 element designation is the water point and it is always the point at the large joint (elbow/knee). This is just for the 5 element theory and the Yang meridians have a different pattern. We will be going into this in great depthOctober 31, 2025 at 4:38 pm #41532
