Inner yin points

When using the inner yin points for spleen imbalance type neck shoulder pain, do we needle perpendicularly, or at a lower angle medially toward the spleen meridian?

The needles go in with a medial to lateral orientation with a slight angle superior (up the leg) with the flow of the yin meridians
